Hello, my name is Bayu Sandi. I began to be interested in self-defense because I saw the character of Edi Gordo (Capoeira fighter) on the PS2 game "Tekken." Because at that time (1999) there was no Capoeira in Malang, I decided to learn Capoeira through the Hollywood movie "Only the Strong" starring Mark Dacascos. From there I began physical training by myself and with my high school friend who also liked Capoeira. We practiced gymnastic moves like we saw at a circus: somersaults, stretching, running, kicking, etc. It was hilarious.
After a while, I picked other martial arts to learn for myself, like Judo, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and Jiu-Jitsu. In 2007 I won the Jiu-Jitsu Open Special Fighting championship in Unesa Surabaya (behind Royal Mall).
I'm very thankful for the support of my friends from Dojo ABM, STIE Malang Kucecwara for this. Most of all Ronald Nicholas Ritonga, Jiu-Jit San heavy-weight who always encouraged me to practice hard.
Now I want to become a mixed martial arts fighter and to have the opportunity to participate in MMA competitions held in Indonesia. If God Almighty wills, I also want to enter MMA competitions that are held abroad. My focus is narrowing from different kinds of training to just physical and mental development to become an MMA fighter.
At Bhineka Mixed Martial Art Club, I train under the guidance of Bung Henry (Coach, owner of Bhineka MMA), together with Bung Michael (basic discipline Karate, Boxing). Such training includes punching, kicking, grappling and body conditioning. It is truly extraordinary exercise, because at practice I always learn something completely new.
Not just with physical training, but Bung Henry also supervises my diet. Because I am a vegetarian, he picks the best natural nutrition for the development of my muscles. Every progress in my MMA training is always supervised and recorded.
Whoever wants to practice together with me, punching, hitting, kicking, grappling and wrestling, in simulation of real fighting is welcome. Monggo.
